TV Critic: TED NUGENT's 'Surviving Nugent' Is Plain Awful
May 12, 2004The Muskegon Chronicle TV critic Brad Aspey has reviewed "Surviving Nugent", the VH1 show which gives life to Ted Nugent's unique vision of a survivalist boot camp.
"If you took Donald Trump out to a remote Texas ranch, dressed him up in jeans and a camouflage cowboy hat and had him throw animal dung at a group of reality show contestants, you'd have 'Surviving Nugent', rocker Ted Nugent's reality series now being shown on cable's VH1," Aspey writes.
"The major difference between Trump's 'The Apprentice' and Nugent's 'Surviving Nugent' is that the former is a great show and the latter is plain awful.
"The disparity in quality between the two shows has nothing to do with subject matter. The premise of Nugent's show could work just fine: Take 10 contestants, dump them on Nugent's Texas ranch for 10 days and ditch one per day until one very lucky (and very dirty) challenger is left holding a check for $100,000."
